New Build is a network of new studios, trades and consultants that are shaping the built environment in Queensland. It provides a platform for emerging practices in the fields of architecture, landscape, planning, construction, research and development to present their story, vision and process. This generates exposure to a vibrant aspect of the local industry and allows us to connect across disciplines as well as to media, publishers and more established practices in the industry.

Louisa and I started New Build as a way of finding emerging tradies, consultants and practices to collaborate with. We wanted to open a conversation between disciplines and feature new and emerging practices.

Our first event, New Build Forum Vol.01, was held on 18th May. We were pretty excited by the awesome cross-disciplinary conversations that happened at the event! Our forums feature seven speakers from a wide variety of disciplines to speak about what they are passionate about, what their skills are, and what inspires them. Forums are fast-paced and informal; speakers only have three minutes to introduce themselves, but this leaves 15 minutes for questions and discussion at the end. Our website operates like an online database of all our speakers, and our Instagram page features emerging practices and advertises our next events.
