You can watch the eighteenth Parlour LAB, and first for the year, here!
This seminar is a powerful and moving conversation about landscapes, disasters, culture, wellbeing, climate change, identity, and healing with Francis Nona and Jacky Bowring.
We learned from Jacky that planting can be a means through which people engage with sustainability, climate change, and decolonise understandings of landscape aesthetic and place. Healing is about acknowledging what has happened, and designing “treatment” to acknowledge, reflect and heal both the physical landscape and our emotional landscape.
Francis directed us to understand the limits of our own knowledge and invite others to the table to work together beyond these individual limits. Working with, not over, community and minority voices can help us heal and increase wellbeing together.
